Coaching the Good Employee Behaving Badly
It’s an all too familiar story. You need to hire or replace a senior employee. You cast a wide net. Conduct excellent interviews. Check references and you make your hire. After a brief honeymoon you notice cracks in the veneer. If you pay attention to the news, senior executives are rarely replaced because they lack the skills to do their job, but rather because some aspect of their behavior has become more of a liability than their skills are an asset.
